Equipping the Workshop Shed – Using an Air Nailer

There are two basic types of Air Nailers available that can be used in the workshop shed, the first type being the stick style. This type uses a strip of nails held together with paper, plastic or thin wire. The strip is loaded in the nail gun magazine. The strips vary in length from 20 – 40 nails. The other type of nail gun is the coil style. This style uses wire joined flexible strings of nails that are loaded into a round magazine on the gun. The magazine rolls the nails so as many as 300 nails can be loaded at one time. There are many types of Air Nailer models. There are designs that are for use in closed-in spaces and some that are designed for powerful construction projects. For the home workshop Finish Nailers are the most appropriate. They are Light Weight and used for cabinets, mouldings, furniture and trim.

Here are a few easy steps to follow when using your air nailer.

1. Make sure you have the right size gun for the project size. You do not want to be shooting spikes where brads are required.
2. A certain air pressure is recommended by the manufacturer. Using too much pressure is not going to make the gun work better or faster or safer.
3. Protection for your eyes should always be worn. A nail not driven properly can bounce off the work piece and hit you in the eye. Ear mufflers or ear plug protection should be worn as well.
4. Understanding and using the tool properly is essential. Read the manual that came with the tool when you first purchased it.
5. Take your time. Accidents happen when you try to hurry.
6. Using the trigger lock should never be attempted. Statistics show that more accidents happen when the trigger is locked than for any other reason. Nails tend to ricochet when the tip of the nailer does not make the proper contact with the work piece.
7. The gun is made to accommodate a specific size nail so it is better not to try to use a size not made for the tool.

An Air Nailer is a great tool to own and will come in handy for tons of projects but be sure you know how to use it properly as it also can be a dangerous tool if you do not know how to use it.

How do I make the inside lights turn off in my Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera?

The lights inside my oldsmobile won’t turn off when I start the car and put it in drive. When I park it, turn it off, and close the doors, the dome light, and the lights under the rearview mirror all stay on. Sometimes when I hit bumps, the lights will blink but then turn back on. I have tried to turned them off on the dial next to the steering wheel, but this hasen’t worked. Does somebody know a way to make them turn off or a website I can go to to find out. Thanks.

The pin switch in one of your doors is bad. They are normally near the hinge and sometimes can get bent over or wear a hole in the door and not work properly. Also the switch itself can be bad. Just check them out one door at a time till you find the bad one. Usually the drivers side front door because it gets used the most. Hope I have been helpful.

Lights Out $35.99 Despite a few generic moments, Lights Out is probably the best studio document of what elevated UFO above the ’70s hard rock fray. Within a Euro-blues framework, the classic lineup that lasted from Phenomenon through Strangers in the Night incorporated challenging dynamics, epic balladry, and a more than occasional sensitivity. On Lights Out, all three of these traits come together in powerful fashion, most notably on the space rocker-cum-ballad “Love to Love,” where a ridiculously heavy intro gives way to flourishing poetics. “Gettin’ Ready” and an oddball Love cover, “Alone Again Or,” also showcase the band’s sensitive ambiguities, never compromising the group’s overarching hard edge. Not enough can be said either about UFO’s stand-out individual performances, particularly Phil Mogg’s street level vocals, which no doubt greatly influenced Joe Elliot and Paul Di’Anno. Then, of course, there’s the matter of Michael Schenker’s deservedly lauded lead guitar. Expressive and bluesy with a tone nearing perfection, even the more pedestrian tunes are made worthwhile due to a Schenker solo. Lights Out holds up well; its subtleties are worth mentioning because the band always make it a point to rock hard, and the playing is always on. Bright Lights $13.58 For singer/songwriter/guitarist Dave Simonett of the progressive bluegrass band Trampled by Turtles, Dead Man Winter has been described as his rock & roll side project (on the official TbT website), but both parts of that description may be dubious. First, the music on Dead Man Winter’s debut album Bright Lights isn’t mostly rock & roll. True, “Get Low,” “Cry for Help,” and “Industrial Daybreak” all answer to that description, with their rock rhythms and electric guitar riffs. But much of the album is folk-rock at best, or even country-pop. Still, it can be said that the sensibility Simonett exhibits in his sly songwriting and strained tenor singing is rock-oriented, and when he does rev things up, as on “Get Low,” he suggests Neil Young with Crazy Horse. The rest of the time, he suggests Young in one of his more folkie or country moods. Whatever the style, however, the music and the band playing it are distinctive enough that the “side project” tag seems inappropriate. TbT is just coming into its own with chart albums like Duluth and Palomino. Under the Lights $13.59 Coasting through the majority of the competition on charm, sex appeal, and personality, Rex Goudie nearly took the title during the third season of Canadian Idol, only to be smoked in the finale by then-girlfriend Melissa O’Neil. Nonetheless, the Newfoundland based singer was signed to a record deal by the same execs who signed O’Neil, in hopes of truly capitalizing on the Idol name and producing more than one hit record. The result of this is Under the Lights, which was released only three months after Goudie assumed runner-up status on the summer blockbuster show. Goudie is not a terrific singer; yet throughout Under the Lights, he suffices with what he has. With a terrific set of gritty pop songs, Goudie presents a strong first attempt at commercial success because the songs aren’t dependent on a one-two punch singer with a killer voice. The songs are slick, personable, and genuinely exciting if occasionally underwhelming, which was always the way Goudie perceived the competition. By taking everything he has and producing the best record he can, he actually manages to present a stronger album than most pop/rock artists of this generation who never really let go on their albums. Each song is different, catchy, memorable, and tantalizing, like true audio candy. Even so, some songs are better than others (although you may want to skip over “Strong Enough”); gems like “Run” make up for it. “Run” is a passionate display of pop affection that replays beautifully. Plus, the haunting “Whiskey Lullaby,” a duet between Goudie and Melissa O’Neil, adds dimension to the record. Other tracks, like “Lie Awake,” and “Write It in Lightning” stand as great pop/rock songs that suffice as commercial successes. Truthfully, Goudie isn’t the best artist out there, and he is far from the best singer; however on Under the Lights, he gives 110-percent, and it shows, and credit must be given because the effort, and the charisma, are there. Mighty Lights $43.19 This was, in a way, soprano saxophonist Jane Ira Bloom’s debut, in that it was the first of her albums to be put out by a label she did not herself own — her first two records were self-produced. Even at such an early stage in her development one can hear the attention to craft that would always characterize her work, though her skills at this point were not what they would later become. Bloom’s control over the horn was occasionally dubious, but she evidenced an attractive tone and a coherent (if a bit immature and self-conscious) manner of phrasing. Her tunes were already quite sophisticated and distinctive, pointing to the even more ambitious composer into which she evolved. On the other hand, her band for this album will probably not be excelled for the rest of her career. Charlie Haden and Ed Blackwell are pretty heavy company for such a callow young musician to be keeping, and pianist Fred Hersch is certainly no slouch.
